What we do

Our Projects

Our club participates in a variety of projects throughout the year that involve fundraising, community service, and assisting children locally and worldwide. Additionally, we have speakers at our weekly meetings to explore topics of interest to the membership. We engage in a number of social activities to share experiences, talents and our collective interests. All represent great opportunities for service, friendships and personal growth.

Youth Safety

Kiwanis Club of Richmond Indiana Club is serious about child safety. Our signature project supporting Safety Village of Wayne County is to teach kids about many areas of safety helping with:
  • Preventing and Reducing Injuries: Prioritizing bike safety for children significantly lowers the risk of accidents, protecting them from potential injuries or mishaps.
  • Developing Lifelong Habits: Teaching  safety early instills lifelong habits, ensuring children to be responsible and safety-conscious.
  • Promoting Confidence: Understanding and practicing safety skills gives children the confidence to feel secure and protected.
The annual Kiwanis Safety Kamps are presented by Kiwanis Club of Richmond and Safety Village providing a day of learning, fun, and community bonding. It's more than just an event; it's a commitment to creating a safer, more informed generation of children. We look forward to seeing you and your child at this exciting Summer event.
The mission statement of Safety Village is:
"To provide our community with programs in a safe environment where children can experience and learn life safety skills."

Reading to Youth

An adventure in literature at our youth reading programs for preschool and elementary students strives to encourage kids to read more and engage in life long learning skills.
Our members volunteer their time to read to kids in the classrooms and daycare facilities.

Raise Money to support the youth in our local area

Fundraising activities are essential for supporting the work of non-profits and community groups. They not only raise vital funds but also enhance community engagement and awareness.

Big Band Saturday Night is our newest fundraiser for Riley Children's Hospital. The theme for each event is the music from a different decade. The Richmond Jazz Orchestra provided the evenings entertainment.

Kiwanis Club of Richmond has held an annual auction for over 60 years, featuring unique items or experiences, offer an exciting and competitive way to raise funds.

In all these efforts, aligning the fundraising activities with the organization's mission is key. It ensures that the event not only raises funds for the children in the Richmond/Wayne County area,  but also strengthens the community's bond with the cause, showcasing the power of collective support in making a positive change.
